The Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association is sponsoring their 21st annual All-Academic Wrestling Team. The KWCA All-Academic Team Standards are as follows: Senior standing in high school Minimum of ten (10) matches on varsity level Season record of .500 or above GPA for 10th, 11th, and first semester 12th grades: First team G.P.A. – 3.5-4.0 Honorable mention – 3.0-3.49 Wrestler’s G.P.A. must be certified by Guidance Counselor or Principal The nomination form must be completed and postmarked by March 2nd, 2010! Feel free to make as many copies of the nomination form as you need. You will be sent a certificate for every wrestler that qualifies. 1st Annual SEK vs SWMO Dual @ Labette Community College An all star dual basically like the metro classic will take place at LCC this year. It will consist of SEK vs SWMO wrestlers. 18th Annual Metro Classic The lineup has been announced for the 18th annual Kansas/Missouri Dual Metro Classic, to be held at 6:30 pm on March 10th in the Athletic Coliseum at the Kansas City, Kansas Community College. Kansas has won 8 of these duals and their Missouri opponents have won 9. Dear Kansas wrestling coaches and KWCA members,
I hope this letter finds you with a great start to the New Year and all is going well for you and your families. Kansas Wrestling has had a great start to the 2009-2010 season and as things get going for the second half of the season the KWCA would like to wish all Kansas Coaches and Programs good luck as we enter the month of January. The KWCA would like to encourage all Kansas High School Coaches, College Coaches, Middle/Jr. High Coaches and Kids Club Coaches to join the KWCA for the 2009-2010 season. We will be offering a Special January Package to all new members for $50.00 that will include a KWCA membership and a Fall 2009 clinic DVD that features Mark Manning (University of Nebraska), Chas Thompson ( Fort Hays State University), Dennis Charbonneau ( Emporia High School) and Bill Johnson (Norton High School). Current members may purchase the clinic DVD for the price of $10.00 per copy. All registration forms must be received by February 1, 2010. All KWCA members will be eligible for post-season awards that will be awarded at the Fall 2010 Banquet held in Salina. Member Coaches will be eligible for the following awards: • High School Head Coach of the Year for each classification • Assistant High School Coach of the Year • Middle School/Jr. High Coach of the Year • Kids Club Coach of the year for each of the four districts The KWCA will also be giving out awards at each regional for Regional Coach of the Year and Regional Wrestler of the Year.
The KWCA will also be conducting the annual Sr. Classic Dual in a Big School vs. Small School format held March 21, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Emporia High School. Please help assist your KWCA class representatives as they contact wrestlers and come up with rosters that will make this a fun and exciting event. Your class representatives will also be passing out rule recommendation ballots at all three state tournament sites, please fill them out and return them to your class representative at the conclusion of the state tournament.
