SALINA, KS - The Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association (KWCA) is thrilled to announce the upcoming KWCA 2023 "Fritz Knorr" Clinic & Awards Banquet, taking place at the Salina Fieldhouse on October 6-7, 2023. This prestigious event will bring together renowned wrestling coaches and officials for two days of learning, recognition, and celebration.

The KWCA Clinic will feature a stellar lineup of clinicians, including Alijah Jeffrey (FHSU Head Women's Coach), Ken Kepley (Pratt CC Head Men's Coach), Tyler Mies (Friends Head Men's Coach), Will Cokely (USAWKS Chairman), Tyrone Lewis (Baker Head Men's Coach), Chad Parks (Shawnee Heights), Carlos Prieto (Garden City), Brett Delich (Tonganoxie), Mike Porsch (Hoxie), and Travis Keal (Mill Valley, Retired). One of the highlights of the KWCA Clinic will be the presence of Mark Lentz, KSHSAA Asst. Director, hosting his annual rules meeting. Additionally, Eve Duncan of FloSports will provide training for the newly adopted OPC, adding another layer of educational depth to the event.

For the second year in a row, the Officials and Coaches will come together for a joint session led by respected official Travis Scheele and the highly successful Mike Porsch of Hoxie, promising a unique and collaborative learning experience.

The grand culmination of the KWCA 2023 event will be the Awards Banquet, held at Homewood Suites on Saturday, October 7, starting at 12:00 pm. During this event each of the spring awards will be presented. Also, the inaugural Doug Vander Linden "Character in Coaching" Award will be presented to Kevin Weber of West Elk High School. This award, created to recognize coaches who extend their influence beyond the sport and invest in the lives of their athletes, is a testament to Kevin's outstanding dedication to his students and athletes. It's a fitting tribute to his remarkable contributions to West Elk High School.

The afternoon will also witness the induction of esteemed individuals into the Hall of Fame: Andy Niemczyk of Beloit Jr/Sr High School, Doug Vander Linden of Burlington High School, Travis Keal of Mill Valley High School, and Tyler Caldwell of Goddard High School / Oklahoma State University. These honorees have left an indelible mark on the world of wrestling, and their achievements will be celebrated with great admiration.
